Position Overview:
The Mechanical Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of mechanical engineers within the R&D department, focusing on the design and development of mechanical systems for advanced medical devices. This role combines hands-on engineering leadership with direct team management and cross-functional collaboration, from concept through design validation and transfer to production, while ensuring compliance with medical regulatory standards.
Job Description:
- Leading and managing a team of mechanical engineers, including delegation of tasks, professional mentoring, and performance monitoring.
- Driving mechanical design processes for medical devices and components such as mechanisms, housings, connectors, and subassemblies.
- POverseeing design reviews, engineering testing, design verification and validation (V&V), and NPI (New Product Introduction) processes.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electronics, software, quality and regulatory affairs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and guidelines (e.g., FDA, CE, ISO 13485).
- Perform engineering failure analysis (e.g., FMEA), design and analyze experiments, and support troubleshooting throughout the product life cycle.
- Write and review engineering documents: specifications, drawings, manufacturing instructions, and assembly procedures.
- Interface with external suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors during the development and production phases.
- Support the professional growth of team members and promote continuous process improvement within the team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering - required.
- At least 5 years of experience in mechanical development for medical devices - required.
- At least 2 years of experience in team leadership or technical lead roles on complex projects.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools - required.
- Proven experience in developing complex mechanical assemblies, including plastics, metals, actuators, seals and pipe interfaces.
- Hands-on experience in NPI processes and creating documentation in accordance with medical quality standards.
- High proficiency in English (reading, writing and speaking).
